Artist Statement

A glimpse into who I am, as an artist.

I don’t draw on bad days! My artwork captures the essence of life, which to me is happy, uplifting, fun and most importantly colorful. Laughing with girlfriends, sipping wine, watching my daughter smile, reading the bible, finding pictures in the clouds, and road trips, provide the inspiration for me to pick up a pencil and begin to create.

Drawings are saturated with bold colors and whimsical images. Many of my pieces incorporate written text, which provide uplifting messages. I want people to walk by my artwork and feel inspired to be a better person, have a better day, or say a prayer of thanks.

While living in Nashville in 2002, I began to create art in the same style I primarily work in now. Each piece begins as a hand drawn sketch. After finalizing the details, dark lines are drawn in and bright colors added on the computer. This technique is used in order to get the bold colors. With this process, while there are no originals, it also enables the pieces to sell for very reasonable prices. Each pieces is printed like a photograph and sold typically as 8 by 10 prints, framed or unframed.

Creative & Colorful Designs is my means of helping my family towards our goal of being debt free.  Being able to create art with a joyful message, share it with others, and now teach art outside of my home at the "Art Shack" is a blessing beyond belief! I also teach Middle School art and enjoy helping with the youth at our church.  click here to visit the ART SHACK

Each morning my grandmother would wake up and recite, “this is a day the Lord has made, let me rejoice and be glad in it.” If she couldn’t say that, and mean it, she would stay in bed until she meant it. I want my art to honor her spirit, her faithfulness, and for each piece to illuminate a brightly colored sense of joy you just can’t get enough of. Enjoy my “Creative and Colorful Designs!”
